LOS ANGELES, Calif. – A small group of Whittier College Track & Field Athletes competed at the Occidental College Invite this past weekend.
On the women's side Mariah Baker (San Gabriel, Calif.) competed in the sprints going 37th in the 100 Meter (14.07) before finishing 28th in the 200m with a time of 28.78. Anahy Covarrubias (Los Angeles, Calif.) took part in the 800m, her top event and took 29th overall with a 2:15.94.
Head Coach Robert Neely sent over his 4x100 Relay consisting of Elizabeth Donnelly (Langley, WA), Gabriella Toress Joubert (Tacoma, Calif.), Tiazha Hogue (Redlands, Calif.), and Elyse Espe (Wishon, Calif.). They finished 5th with a time of 3:54.96.
Rounding out the scoring for the ladies was Jillian Weber (San Ramon, Calif.) who podiumed in the Javelin taking 3rd with a mark of 30.58m.
On the men's side Gabriel Pridgen-Daniels (Sacramento, Calif.) started things off in the 100m finishing 23rd with a time of 11.18. Then in the 200m he went 35th with a 22.94 joining Cooper Tirado (Kupolei, HI) (31st – 22.45), Hakim Williams Jr. (Riverside, Calif.) (37th – 23.41), and Eli Bedford (Los Angeles, Calif.) (38th – 23.62).
Tirado and Bedford returned in the 400m going 24th (49.27) and 38th (51.91). Garrett Silva (Whittier, Calif.) earned points in the Pole Vault placing 8th overall with a mark of 4.70m and the 4x100 Relay team of Bedford, Williams Jr., Tirado, and Pridgen-Daniels would end the scoring placing 6th with a time of 42.72.
