WC Coming into the Game

Whittier is currently riding a five-game losing streak and sit at 5-6, 2-2 SCIAC.  Their last win came back on December 5 against the University of Redlands (58-44).  During this stretch they have faced tough competition facing off against Nationally Ranked teams in George Fox University, University of Puget Sound, and Illinois Wesleyan.  They also had to face-off against Brooklyn College who made the NCAA Tournament a year ago.   

PP Coming into the Game

In just her third season with the Sagehens, Head Coach Jill Pace has Pomona-Pitzer playing great basketball as they sit with a 10-4, 4-1 SCIAC record.  They have won their last three games and five of their last six.  During their winning streak they rolled Occidental (83-54) and Colby (72-56) but barely pulled out wins over La Verne (80-77 OT), UC Santa Cruz (71-68) and Knox (62-60 OT).

Over the past five years the Poets and Sagehens have had tough games with the Purple & Gold holding a 6-4 advantage, which includes a 4-0 winning streak coming into tonight.  The last win for Pomona-Pitzer came back on January 30, 2016.

Whittier – The Poets have put up low numbers on offense averaging 59.2 PPG, while shooting 37.8% from the field and 23.3% from three-point territory.  They do bring in 35.6 rebounds per game with 10 assists but where they prove tough is defensively.  Holding opponents to 59.6 PPG, 36.3% shooting, and 27.3% from behind the arc.  They also have a -2.3 rebounding margin. 

Pomona-Pitzer – The Sagehens have a high powered offense averaging 72.6 PPG, while shooting 42.5% from the field and 34.5% from behind the arc.  They also shoot 75% from the free throw line.  Inside they haul in 34.9 rebounds per game and 15.8 assists.  They have a -3.6 rebounding margin and giving up 63.2 points per game and holding opponents to 37.8% shooting with a 29.2% clip from three-point territory.
