WHITTIER, Calif. – The Whittier College Women's Basketball team unveiled their 2019-20 schedule Wednesday announced by Head Coach Roy Dow.
The Purple & Gold will open their season this Sunday, November 10 when they travel up to Santa Cruz to take on the Banana Slugs of UCSC beginning at 3:00pm. They then return home the following weekend to host University of Antelope Valley on Saturday, November 16 at 4:00pm.
They jump right into Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) play on Wednesday, November 20 when they travel to take on the University of La Verne (7:00pm) and then wrap up the month of November with three home match-ups against UC Santa Cruz (Friday, Nov. 22 @ 7:00pm), Whitman (Monday, Nov. 25 @ 7:00pm), and Willamette (Friday, Nov. 29 @ 12:00pm).
Back to back SCIAC match-ups open up December competition with the Poets hosting Cal Lutheran (Wednesday, Dec. 4 @ 7:00pm), and traveling to the University of Redlands (Saturday, Dec. 7 @ 4:00pm). Whittier will then host the annual Purple & Gold Poet Classic on Sunday-Monday, December 15-16. They start off the Classic against Hardin-Simmons (1:00pm) and then take on DePauw (7:00pm).
Later in the week the Poets then hit the road for a match-up against Grand Canyon University on Sunday, December 22 (1:00pm). Then to wrap up 2019 WC will then host Webster (Saturday, Dec. 28 @ 1:00pm) and North Central (Monday, Dec. 30 @ 3:00pm).
Seven SCIAC games will occur in the month of January, which includes a three game home stand against Caltech (Wednesday, Jan. 8 @ 7:00pm), Chapman (Saturday, Jan. 11 @ 4:00pm), and Pomona-Pitzer (Wednesday, Jan. 15 @ 7:00pm). They open the month on the road against Claremont-M-S on Saturday, Jan. 4 @ 7:00pm and then finish off January with three straight road games against Occidental (Saturday, Jan. 18 @ 4:00pm), Cal Lutheran (Saturday, Jan. 25 @ 4:00pm), and Caltech (Wednesday, Jan. 209 @ 7:00pm).
It will be a big February for the Purple & Gold as they push to earn a spot in the SCIAC Tournament. They have six games over the 28 days, with four being held inside the Graham Athletic Center. They host Claremont-M-S (Saturday, Feb. 1 @ 4:00pm) and La Verne (Wednesday, Feb. 5 @ 7:00pm) and then go away home over their final four games. They travel to take on Chapman (Saturday, Feb. 8 @ 4:00pm) and Pomona-Pitzer (Wednesday, Feb. 19 @ 7:00pm) and will host Occidental (Saturday, Feb. 15 @ 7:00pm) and Redlands (Saturday, Feb. 22 @ 7:00pm).
