PASADENA, Calif. – The Whittier College Women's Golf team took part in the second Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Tournament this past weekend playing in SCIAC No. 2 out at Brookside Golf Club.
After a strong day one shooting a 322 putting them 4th, the Purple & Gold couldn't keep the momentum going as they would fall two spots on the second day with a 337, their worst single round score all season.
Kajal Vitha (Whittier, Calif.) sat in a great spot in a tie for 3rd after shooting a 76 on day one but couldn't keep it going as she dropped five spots into 8th after shooting an 80 in the second round. Sophomore Taylor Beckwith (Turlock, Calif.) was also like Vitha sitting within the top five after shooting a 77 on the first day but she too couldn't keep the momentum going dropping eight spots into 13th after an 83.
After that it went Ciara Clark (Henderson, NV) with an 85-87 (26th), Madison Crimi-Demichele (San Jose, Calif.) (84-88) for 26th, Kamryn Marie Garcia (La Mirada, Calif.) (90-87) for 33rd and Kainani Ho (Waipahu, HI) in 41st with a 98-89.
Claremont-M-S finished on top the leaderboard with a 609 and was followed by Pomona-Pitzer (627), Chapman University (643), Cal Lutheran (654), and the Uni. of Redlands (656). The lone team WC finished in front of Occidental College who shot a 671.
Whittier has one tournament remaining on the schedule, which will be the SCIAC Championships on April 22-24. The three day tournament will take place at Los Serranos Golf Club.
