WHITTIER, Calif. – The Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) announced their All-West Region selections last week and junior Taylor Beckwith (Turlock, Calif.) saw herself receive recognition for the first time in her career.
Beckwith just completed a successful trip to the NCAA Division III National Championships last week as she qualified as an individual. She is the first women's golfer in program history to qualify, and the first to earn All-West Region accolades.
She finished 22nd at the Championships shooting rounds of 73-80-79-79. She was also ranked No. 17 in the National Polls and was named 1st Team All-SCIAC.
Beckwith led the Purple & Gold all season and filled into the No. 1 slot with the absence of Kajal Vitha, who graduated early. At SCIAC No. 1 she finished 3rd overall posting scores of 78-78. At SCIAC No. 2 she went 76-76, which put her 10th and then to cap off the SCIAC season she posted three rounds at 75-81-77, which put her 7th. She finished with a 77.22 scoring average on the season and posted 2nd Place finishes at the George Fox Westbrook Invite (73-74) and OGIO Bulldog Classic (74-73). She is the fourth highest ranked national player from SCIAC and finished with a 7-1 record against opponents ranked 26-50 and a perfect 19-0 against opponents ranked 50-100.
