NORTH PRESCOTT, AZ – The Whittier College Women's Golf team wrapped up their fall season earlier this week as they finished 5th at the ERAU Co-ED Invitational in North Prescott, AZ.
The Purple & Gold totaled a 973 over the two days at Antelope Valley Golf Club, which included playing 36 on Day 1. They put together rounds of 322-328-323. They were able to edge out Hope International (6th – 1065) and Cottey College (7th – 1147). They were within eight strokes of the 4th place finisher Arizona Christian who totaled a 965 (324-322-319).
Taylor Beckwith (Turlock, Calif.) once again paced the Poets finishing in a tie for 8th. She had three sub-80 rounds with a 76-78-76. She was also the second highest finisher from the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC).
Kamryn Marie Garcia (La Mirada, Calif.) after posting a strong 78 in round one dropped into a tie for 18th after posting an 85-83. She tied with sophomore Natalie Gonzalez (Norwalk, Calif.) who went 83-80-82. Freshman Aleena Mendoza (Victorville, Calif.) made big strides across the three rounds. After an 87 to start things off backed it up with an 85-82 that put her in a tie for 28th. Jessica Zona (Temecula, Calif.) was the final Poet to score finishing in 36th going 86-92-94.
The team winner was Embry-Riddle (AZ) who totaled an 893 (294-301-298). The top individual performer was Jessica Williams from Embry-Riddle who finished with a 215 (71-73-71). The Eagles also had the Top 3 individual finishers in the field.
Whittier has wrapped up their fall season and now sets their sights on the spring beginning in February.
