REDLANDS, Calif. – The Whittier College Women's Lacrosse team suffered their third straight loss Saturday 17-7 to the University of Redlands.

It was the third game for the Purple & Gold within four days as they drop to 3-9, 0-5 SCIAC.  It was a slow start for Whittier seeing the Bulldogs score the first 13 goals over the opening twelve minutes.  WC put together a comeback over the final six minutes of the half with three straight from Sarah Morgan (Tustin, Calif.), Lexie Meanor (Sewickley, PA), and Zorida Castro (San Diego, Calif.).  But they still saw themselves trailing 13-3 at the break.

The second half was a low scoring affair with a combined eight goals being scored.  UR started the period off with four unanswered that pushed the advantage to 17-3.  Then over the final seventeen minutes it was all Whittier adding the final four tallies from Neely O'Grady (Lorton, VA), Meanor, Morgan, and Emily Olague (San Ramon, Calif.).  This got Whittier within ten but that's as close as they would get as they would fall on the road.

Madison Topping (El Dorado Hills, Calif.) picked up a mere four goals between the posts against 21 shots, but also added four groundballs.  Morgan and Meanor each added two goals and O'Grady added a goal and an assist.  Meanor also finished with a pair of groundballs, five draw controls, and two caused turnovers.

Whittier was outshot 22-15 and were deadlocked on draw controls 13-13.  The Poets were also 8-for-15 on clear attempts and picked up 15 groundballs, while going 3-for-5 on free position attempts.

Whittier remains in conference play this week as they travel out to Claremont, Calif. this Saturday, April 6 to take on Claremont-M-S beginning at 1:00pm.
