The Whittier College women’s soccer team who is coming off a strong 4-1 win over the Tigers of Occidental College was unable to pull out the win in their final game as they fell 5-1 to the Sagehens of Pomona-Pitzer.

The Whittier College women’s soccer team after coming off of a heartbreaking loss to the Panthers of Chapman University played probably their best game all season against the Bulldogs of the University of Redlands.

Whittier College suffered an 8-0 setback to No. 18 Redlands Saturday evening at the Farquhar Fields on the campus of the University of Redlands. The Poets who were playing for the third consecutive game without 2nd Team All-SCIAC performers Shelly Johiro and Breann Yamada due to injuries slipped to 0-6, 0-3 SCIAC, while the Bulldogs improve to 3-2-1, 1-2 SCIAC.
The Whittier College women’s soccer team came out aggressive in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opener but was unable to gather the win as they lost 2-0 to the Leopards from the University of La Verne.
The Whittier College women’s soccer team opened up their 2011 season hosting the Mariners of Marymount College in front of a fan base of almost 200 people. The end result being a 3-2 loss that came down to the final minutes.
Whittier College head women’s soccer coach Monica Gerardo is entering her first season with the Poets and is looking to turn around a program that went 5-10-2 overall and 2-9-1 in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in 2010.
There will be no trips outside of California but the Whittier College women’s soccer team will see a couple of new teams added to their schedule as head coach Monica Gerardo has officially released the 2011 season schedule for the Poets.
