ORANGE, Calif. – For the third consecutive game the Whittier College women's soccer team has been shutout as they fell 4-0 on the road to Chapman University dropping to 1-6-1, 0-3 SCIAC.
With three starters on the bench due to injuries the Poets were unable to gather much offense as they were outshot 15-6 despite holding an advantage on corner kicks 4-2.
Chapman added two goals within the first ten minutes en route to scoring four in the game. Olivia Do was the first to score off of a clear attempt from the Poets' defense 4:20 into the game. Do added an additional assist by executing a clean pass across the middle to Julia Diaz 16 minutes into the second half to make the score 3-0.
A corner kick by Haley Fedden allowed the Panthers to extend their lead to 4-0 when Rosie Kerstetter fired one in off an assist from Megan Copeland.
Shannon Boler also scored making the Panthers 4-for-12 with shots on goal for the night. Freshman Caitlyn Schrepfer (Placentia, Calif.) got her third start of the season in goal for the Poets saving eight balls, while facing 12 shots on goal.
Sofia Garcia (Bonita, Calif.) led the offensive unit for the Purple & Gold taking two shots with both being on goal.
Whittier returns to the Donald E. Graham Soccer Field as they host Redlands this Saturday, September 27 beginning at 7:00pm.
