Title: Assistant Coach

Jack Gidney begins his first season as an assistant coach for the Whittier Poets women's soccer program with nearly a decade of coaching experience under his belt.

Last year Gidney served as the Men’s Assistant Coach at California State University Dominguez Hills before returning to the UK in January to take a role with Kettering Town Women’s Team, guiding them to an FA County Cup Final. 

As a club coach, Gidney served as the girl's director for Fram Soccer Club and head coach of Women's Premier Soccer League's (WPSL) Fram Ajax. He has had past tenures at Chelsea Soccer Club, Pateadores Soccer Club and Canyon Football Club. Most recently, Gidney served as an Associate Head Coach for Palos Verdes High School helping PVHS to three Bay League titles and a CIF Southern Section Division II crown after a three-year stint at Servite High School. Additionally, he has also worked on CalSouth ODP|Pro+ day and residential camps.

Gidney is a Key Contributor to “Star Spangled Soccer,” a book by Gary Hopkins which was used to support the USA World Cup bid, as well as being a guest on several soccer podcasts discussing coaching and the women’s game. 

Originally from Stratford upon Avon in the UK, Gidney moved to the United States in 2004 and prepped at nearby Bishop Montgomery High School, where he was named the team's offensive player of the year as a junior. 
Gidney holds a United States Soccer Federation (USSF) 'B' License, and studied at Business and Sport Management at the University of Hertfordshire in the United Kingdom, where he has had experience with a handful of top flight UK teams.
