Poets earn big points on Day 3 of SCIAC Championships

COMMERCE, Calif. – The Whittier College Women's Swimming & Diving team made a huge jump on Day 3 of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Championships in points picking up 102 bringing their three-day total to 255 points.

Becca Ayers impressed on the 3-Meter board finishing 4th with a score of 446.25.  This got the Poets off on the right foot as Kayla Heiss (Honolulu, HI) and Esther Choe (Mercer Island, WA) took 6th (58.45) and 10th (58.81), each respectively in the 100 Fly.

Freshman Julia Hagenbaumer (Naperville, Ill.) earned her way into the finals in the 100 Breast and took 6th (1:07.05), while Kayanna Heffner (Bend, OR) posted a 1:10.29, which placed her 14th

Then in the 400 Yard Medley, which capped off the day, the team of Brenda Shanahan (San Ramon, Calif.), Hagenbaumer, Heiss, and Ashley Sagouspe (Fresno, Calif.) would earn a fast time of 4:05.58, which put them in 6th , while Sydney Kanne (Duarte, Calif.), Erika Ngo (Alhambra, Calif.), Choe, and Brianna Nowicki (Londonderry, NH) teamed up to take 14th (4:10.14).
