Women’s Tennis rolls El Camino 8-1

WHITTIER, Calif. – The Whittier College Women's Tennis team continues to look strong here in 2018 as they rolled El Camino 8-1 at the Richard Ettinger Tennis Courts. 

The Purple & Gold made quick work of the Warriors sweeping doubles.  Freshman Kallysta Lopez (Whittier, Calif.) teamed up with sophomore Karissa Lee (Whittier, Calif.) and cruised to the 8-0 victory at No. 3.  Madeline Schmidt-Perez (San Marino, Calif.) and Kiara Embrey (Los Angeles, Calif.) followed at No. 2 winning 8-2 and Kindall Yeung (Fullerton, Calif.) and Amanda Rodriguez (Glendora, Calif.) took out the top team 8-4.

It got worse for El Camino in singles as Lopez, Embrey, and Lee took out their No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6 players all winning 6-0, 6-0.  Rodriguez took out Maddie Giese 6-3, 6-0 at No. 2 and Yeung held on at the top spot against Lina Ito coming from a set down to win 2-6, 6-2, 10-6.

The lone loss for the Poets came at No. 3 from Schmidt-Perez who was broken in each set falling 6-4, 6-4 to Stephanie Kingham.
