WHITTIER, Calif. – The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) teams were announced for women's tennis earlier in the week and sophomore Amanda Rodriguez (Glendora, Calif.) earned recognition being named to the 2nd Team.
She earns accolades for the first time in her career after leading the Purple & Gold this season and she is the first women's tennis player to earn a spot on an All-SCIAC team since 2015 when Meagan Zamilpa and Gabi Etchegaray earned spots on 1st and 2nd Team, respectively.
This season Rodriguez played No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles and was the most consistent throughout the year. In SCIAC she posted a 2-5 record in singles with wins over Cal Lutheran and Occidental. She battled though against Caltech (6-4, 6-3) and Redlands (7-6 (5), Ret.). In doubles with her teammate Kindall Yeung (Fullerton, Calif.) she went 2-5 with victories over Chapman and Occidental, while picking up tight losses to Redlands (8-4) and Cal Lutheran (8-6).
