    Cal Lutheran senior setter Jackie Russell has been announced as the recipient of the Inaugural "Alyssa Sialaris Award” and will attend a European Exposure Tour that was established to honor the former Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) two-sport standout who passed away in April 2013.

    The Whittier College volleyball team pushed the Chapman Panthers to the brink Saturday afternoon but were unable to come away with the upset as Chapman held on in five winning 17-25, 25-20, 24-26, 25-13, 15-10.

    The Whittier College volleyball team Friday night fought back from being down two sets to Redlands only to fall 16-14 in the fifth set after leading early in the frame. This marks the fifth straight loss for the Purple & Gold with just three games remaining on their 2013 schedule.

    In April 2013, the Whittier College community lost a very special student athlete, senior Alyssa Sialaris who was a part of both the volleyball and track & field teams. On Tuesday, September 24 at 7:30pm the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference is coming together to honor Alyssa’s memory prior to the start of all the games that evening.

    The Whittier College volleyball team with four new faces and an entire new coaching staff got their 2013 season underway over the past two days at the Pacific Coast Classic and picked up their first two wins of the season sweeping competition on day two of the classic.

    First year head coach Chris Duarte McDermott officially released the 2013 Whittier College volleyball schedule this morning. The Poets will play 29 regular-season matches with nine of those occurring on their home court in the Graham Athletic Center.
