CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Whittier College Women's Water Polo team exited the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Post Season Tournament Friday afternoon.
They entered as the No. 4 seed and were matched up against the top seeded Sagehens of Pomona-Pitzer.
The Purple & Gold were 0-2 against the Sagehens on the season going into the post-season and they couldn't pick up the win on the road as they fell 15-3.
The Sagehens blanked the Poets in the opening period 4-0 before putting up another five in the 2nd. Anastacia Gonzalez (Montebello, Calif.) would add two in the second period but WC still saw themselves trailing 9-2 at the break.
Whittier found it tough to score in the third quarter being held scoreless as PP moved the score to 12-2.
In the final stanza, Kendyl Riley (Huntington Beach, Calif.) was able to find the back of the goal but that came with :18 seconds on the clock, which wasn't enough to spark a comeback.
Noa Cravens (Laie, HI) played in goal for the Poets and finished with seven saves and three steals.
Whittier was outshot 29-22 for the game and was 0-for-11 on power-play opportunities.
