CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Whittier College Women's Water Polo team ended their non-conference schedule Sunday falling 11-7 to Division I Brown.

The Purple & Gold see their five-game winning streak snapped as they drop to 10-5, 6-1 SCIAC.

The Poets got two goals in the first quarter from junior transfer Sawyer Bellville (Chino, Calif.) but they still saw themselves trailing 3-2.  In the second the Bears extended their lead to 6-3 outscoring WC 3-1.  Out of the break Brown continued to pour on the offense putting up another four tallies that moved the score to 10-4.  Over the final eight minutes it was all Whittier connecting for three from Roni Ramirez (La Habra, Calif.), Teresa Marchetti (Messina, Italy), and Marina Daroca Bazan (Barcelona, Spain) but the comeback would fall short as they would fall 11-7.

Whittier returns to the pool this Wednesday, March 27 for a big Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) showdown against Cal Lutheran University beginning at 4:00pm.
